Fade In: Black Screen
WOMAN (V.O.)
It's so hard for a woman to get
respect in this lifestyle. I've
been in this game since I was a
little girl, and I'm not about to
let it all fall apart, not for him,
not for anybody.
We're listening to the thoughts of SHARICE as she begins to
explain her current situation
Cut in:
THE SIT DOWN
INT. FRIENDLY INN MOTEL
We're shown a roach infested motel just on the outskirts of
Eastern New Orleans. In room 64 we have Sharice standing over
a guy, with tears streaming down her face, holding a gun
towards the man's head.
SHARICE (V.O.)
I know what you're thinking, why is
a chick like myself standing here
with a gun to someone's head, and
having that "I just lost my best
friend" look on my face. It's very
complicated, but I guess it started
a couple of weeks ago…
Cut Out:
Cut In:
EXT. UPPER CLASS HOTEL, ATLANTA
A curb view shot, interrupted by a Black Lexus driving
through. A bell boy runs up to the side and opens the
driver's side door. A leg is shown coming out, and the other
leg follows. The screen zooms out to reveal Sharice wearing
open toe heels, a dark black skirt outfit, expensive looking
sunglasses, and carrying a black purse to match.
SHARICE (V.O.)
I'm an affiliate in a crime group
known as the Faction. I'm a Captain
to be more specific.
Our group is run by three bosses,
and we own much of the Southern big
cities, you know Atlanta, New
Orleans, Dallas, Miami, and
everything in between.
INT. HOTEL LOBBY
Sharice continues her way through the lobby holding her purse
as she waives at the front desk clerk. She presses the
elevator button and waits for its arrival. As she waits she
notices a couple of men passing by checking her out. She was
a beautiful woman. The elevator arrives and she gets in and
puts in the key for the pent house.
INT. PENT HOUSE, JOHNNY'S PLACE
Sharice exits the elevator and walks towards two Italian
bodyguards.
SHARICE
Hey FRANKIE baby, how's it hangin?
FRANKIE
How ya doin' hon, looking good as
always.
Sharice kisses Frankie on the cheek.
SHARICE
I need to see JOHNNY.
FRANKIE
Sure, I'll let him know you're here
to see him.
Frankie walks to the main bedroom, and knocks on the door.
FRANKIE (CONT'D)
John, its Frank, Sharice is hear to
see ya.
JOHNNY
Ok, fix me a drink, and tell her
I'll be right out.
Frankie walks back into the room where Sharice and the other
bodyguard is standing. He positions himself behind the mini
bar.
FRANKIE
Hey hon, can I get you somethin' to
drink.
SHARICE
No thanks, it's a little early for
me to get buzzed.
Johnny walks in the room wearing a robe and slippers.
JOHNNY
You should know a woman like this
doesn't drink this early, she a
business woman. Her mind is clear
at all times. Me however, I'll take
the usual.
SHARICE
How you doing John?
Sharice walks over to Johnny and kisses him on both cheeks.
JOHNNY
I'm doing fine. Now what brings you
all the way to Atlanta early this
morning?
Sharice reaches into her purse and pulls out a thick
envelope. Johnny takes the envelope and looks inside and
flips through a wad of hundred dollar bills.
JOHNNY (CONT'D)
You came all the way here for this?
This isn't due for another two
weeks.
SHARICE
This is in addition to what I
normally kick up to you. I had a
very good month.
JOHNNY
Nice. You never cease to amaze me,
but cut the crap Reece, why are you
really here.
Sharice sits down at a nearby loveseat and places her purse
on the coffee table next to her. Johnny sits across from her
in a recliner chair as Frankie hands him his drink.
SHARICE
In addition to dropping that off to
you, I was wondering if you've
heard anything?
Johnny smiles and takes a sip of his drink.
JOHNNY
Hear anything? Anything like what?
SHARICE
Come on! Johnny, don't act like you
don't know what I'm talking about.
Have you and the other bosses come
to a decision yet.
JOHNNY
I'm just fuckin' with you. Calm
down. We haven't decided on what to
do yet. We still need to get
together and discuss a few things.
SHARICE
Things like what? Either I'm a boss
or not, it's not that hard John.
Johnny gets up from his recliner and sits next to Sharice in
the loveseat.
JOHNNY
Look, Sharice, I owe you a lot.
Because of you I'm not doing life
in the can, and you know that. You
know you got my vote, but you need
one of the two other bosses to
agree with me. We sit down in about
a month to discuss new business,
I'm sure it will come up then, in
the mean time hon, you have some
work to do trying to sway the other
bosses votes. How's that goin'
anyways?
Sharice shakes her head.
SHARICE
Not to good. All MONEY wants to do
is fuck me, and I can't read RICO.
JOHNNY
Well keep at it kid, I think you'll
do well. Since you're here, I'm
going to New Orleans next week, and
I have a pick up out there I need
to collect. You mind making the
pick up for me?
SHARICE
No prob.
JOHNNY
It's a pretty big pick up. They owe
me a lot in back taxes.
SHARICE
I'll take a couple of my peeps
along with me, it won't be a
problem.
JOHNNY
Ok, It's a date. How's things going
out there anyhow?
SHARICE
What in New Orleans?
JOHNNY
Yeah, I mean you're handing me a
nice sized envelope, all things
considered.
SHARICE
It's been a bitch, but I'm getting'
by. I lost all my shit in New
Orleans East, but my new crib in
the Westbank is just as good.
JOHNNY
I'm sorry to hear that hon. If you
don't mind me askin', why in the
fuck did you go back? I mean you
could have come and worked for me
out here.
SHARICE
Sorry Johnny, but I'm a N.O. girl.
That's all I know, and that's all I
wanna know.
A phone begins to ring. It's Sharice's phone in her purse.
She opens her purse and pulls out the phone.
SHARICE (CONT'D)
Excuse me John...Hello...She did
what?...I'll take care of it...
Have her meet me at the
airport...ok...later.
Sharice hangs up the phone and gets up from the love seat.
SHARICE (CONT'D)
Well big John, I got to run, seems
like I'm needed back in Orleans.
Johnny gets up and gives Sharice a hug.
JOHNNY
Business as usual?
SHARICE
But of course.
Sharice walks to the elevator.
EXT. AIRPORT, NEW ORLEANS
Sharice walks out of the airport and is met by CONNIE in her
black Escalade.
INT. ESCALADE
Sharice looking out the passenger side window sighing at the
devastation of her beloved city.
SHARICE (V.O.)
Most of my businesses and
territories were in New Orleans. I
loved this city to death, I mean
Mardi Gras, the French Quarter,
there's always something going on,
it was paradise. Now, I look at the
same city, and see nothing but
debris and waste.
CONNIE
Reece, you could have chilled in
ATL for the day, I could have
handled this for you.
SHARICE
Nah, Money specifically asked me to
take care of this. These new cats
out here are trying to do their own
thing since we've been back, so we
have to nip this shit in the bud to
keep everyone in line. Besides,
this moron has been talking bad
about me, and I owe him that much
to visit him personally. So
somebody finally popped Cedric huh?
CONNIE
Yeah, too bad. He was kinda cute.
SHARICE
Yeah, he was aight.
They both laugh as Sharice continues to look out her window.
SHARICE (V.O.) (CONT'D)
That's Connie, my number one. She
was my muscle so to speak. I know
what you're thinking, how can a
girl be the muscle? Let's just say
her body count is well respected.
SHARICE (CONT'D)
So what's this I hear about you
breakin' up a card game?
CONNIE
What the fuck are you talkin'
about?
SHARICE
You killed a fuckin' dealer! Now I
got to go straighten this shit out
with Mike?
CONNIE
The fucker had it comin'. He
disrespected me.
SHARICE
Bullshit Connie! Your fuckin'
temper is getting out of line, and
it's costing us money.
CONNIE
My fuckin' temper is what keeps
your pockets filled!
SHARICE
No more fuckin' bodies Connie!
Fuck!
Sharice shakes her head in disgust while Connie continues to
drive.
CONNIE
So when you want to do this?
Sharice looks at Connie and manages a smile. Connie notices
this and begins to nod.
SHARICE
Now is as good as any. I assume
you're packin'.
Connie pulls out a 38 revolver from under her seat and smiles
at Sharice.
CONNIE
Always.
SHARICE
Cool. Let's roll mama.
EXT. ESCALADE
The Escalade continues to ride down the highway with the
reflection of the sunset bouncing off the shine of the smooth
black finish. The SUV drives through a neighborhood only a
drug dealer could call home. Pretty much most of the houses
are old and run down or just outright boarded up and
abandoned. The street is coming apart and filled with pot
holes. In the middle of the block, there is a run down house
occupied by 4 guys dressed in fashionable hip hop gear all
sitting on the steps. Connie stops at the SUV for a second,
but Sharice motions her to keep going.
INT. ESCALADE
SHARICE
Pull up at the corner over there.
EXT. ESCALADE
Connie passes up the 4 guys and turns on following corner.
INT. ESCALADE
Sharice cautiously looks around. She finally turns her
attention towards Connie.
SHARICE
Have you been covering your tracks?
CONNIE
Yeah, why? Are you nervous or
something?
SHARICE
No, I just don't want to be an
inmate anytime soon, you know what
I mean?
CONNIE
Relax, nobody followed me.
SHARICE
Aright, let's do this.
Sharice and Connie both get out of the escalade and approach
the men.
EXT. DRUG HOUSE
SHARICE
I'm looking for DRE.
The biggest of the four men stand up and starts to approach
Sharice and Connie.
MAN
I'm Dre. What can I do for you
lovely ladies?
Sharice takes of her sunglasses and folds them up and places
them in a case in her purse.
SHARICE
I'm Sharice, maybe you heard of me?
Dre begins to laugh.
DRE
Say dog, this is the chick ya boy
use to kick up to before I took
over. Well check it out boo, I
don't know why that nigga Cedric
was sending anything your way, but
things have changed around here.
Now, I do have somethin' I can kick
up to you, it's this dick. I'm
definitely willing to put up some
cash for a piece of that.
Sharice shakes her head.
SHARICE
Your boy, Cedric kicked up to me
out of respect. We had an
understanding that if he wanted to
push anything in this neighborhood
that there was a slight
tax involved. If anybody ever
fucked with him, he could come to
me. If he needed a better product,
he could come to me.
Sharice begins to circle around Dre as if she was checking
him out.
SHARICE (CONT'D)
I think we could do business, so
I'm gonna give you another chance
to make the right decision. And for
the record, I'm not for sale, and
if I was, it would be more than
your broke ass could afford.
Dre begins laughing and sits back down on the stairs next to
his friends.
DRE
Bitch you must have lost your mind
coming here talkin' shit. Get your
ass out of here before me my boys
toss yo ass up!
Sharice is about to respond, but before she can Connie takes
out her gun and FIRES three shots into Dre's chest, killing
him. Sharice turns to her and gives her an evil look. She
then pulls out her gun and aims it at the remaining guys who
are panicking.
SHARICE
Who's the lieutenant here!
LIL D slowly raises his hand.
SHARICE (CONT'D)
What's your name?
LIL D (STUTTERING)
Lil D.
SHARICE
Lil D is it?
LIL D
Yeah, that's me.
SHARICE
Today's your lucky day, you're
being promoted, unless you have a
problem with kicking up to a woman,
in which case, you can join you
lifeless friend over there.
LIL D
I don't have any problems.
SHARICE
Cool. Now I'll send my guy around
once a week to make my collections.
Don't make me have to come back up
here and deal with your ass.
LIL D
No problem ma'am.
SHARICE
Kill all that ma'am shit, my name
is Sharice, and you'd better learn
it. Just ask around about me.
LIL D
Ok, I'm sorry about this shit.
SHARICE
Don't be sorry, just be on time
with my payments.
Sharice walks towards Connie's Escalade and gets in, while
Connie still pointing her gun towards Dre's friends slowly
backs up and gets into the SUV and pulls away tearing the
rubber from her tires.
INT. ESCALADE
Connie adjusts her rear view mirror as she pulls onto the
highway.
CONNIE
Damn girl, aint that some shit!
That nigga was trippin'.
SHARICE
Connie what the fuck did I say?
What the fuck did I just say to
you? No more fuckin' bodies!
CONNIE
Calm down! You can't let anybody
talk shit about you like that! Word
gets around then you'll have other
muthafuckas talking shit about you!
SHARICE
Damn it Connie! You're painting me
into a corner with Money here! How
the fuck am I going to be boss when
I'm causing problems for him?
Connie just nods her head while Sharice calms herself.
SHARICE (CONT'D)
Shit, I was hoping to avoid that.
CONNIE
Girl please! That nigga deserved
that shit! You've been trippin
lately. The Sharice I knew would
have capped that fool as soon as he
opened his mouth!
SHARICE
I know… It's just… I fuckin' know.
CONNIE
I swear ever since they mentioned
putting you on as a boss, you've
been trippin'.
Sharice sighs as she takes a cloth from the glove box and
wipes Connie's gun clean. She then put the gun under the car
seat.
SHARICE
I need to meet with Money, bring me
by his spot.
CONNIE
You sure about that?
SHARICE
Might as well. He'll be calling for
me later.
CONNIE
OK. Girl I'm still trippin' on Dre.
He was talking about kickin' up to
Harold, when Harold kicks up to you
anyways.
SHARICE
Oh, did I forget to mention that to
Dre. Well check this out, send
Harold to make my pick up at the
end of this week! Let's see how Lil
D handles that!
Both women laugh as Connie continues to drive towards Money's
home.
SHARICE (V.O.) (CONT'D)
That's a day in the life of
Sharice. I spend most of my time
trying to get respect in a game
ruled by guys. It sucks, but it's
the only thing I do real well.
Cut Out.
EXT. MONEY MIKE'S HOME
Connie's Escalade pulls in front of Money Mike's home. His
home is enormous as it looks like a mansion from the outside.
Sharice exits the Escalade when she notices Money's limo is
leaving from the driveway. It stops in it's tracks as the
back window of the limo slowly opens. Sharice makes her way
to the back window.
MONEY
Well if it isn't my favorite sexy
boss of the streets. What's up boo?
SHARICE
Money, hey, I need to talk to you.
MONEY
I'm on my way out.
SHARICE
Two minutes, please.
MONEY
I do love when you beg, get in.
Sharice hops into the limo as Connie continues to look on
from her SUV.
INT. MONEY'S LIMO
The inside of Money's limo is clean and spacious. It's even
equipped with a mini bar equipped with glasses and drinks.
Money is pouring a drink. He offers a drink to Sharice, but
she refuses. She's sitting directly across from him.
MONEY
Why are you sitting all the way
over there? There is a lot of space
over here by me.
SHARICE
I'm fine thank you.
MONEY
Whateva, so what's up, time is
money baby.
SHARICE
I want you to reconsider your vote
Money.
MONEY
Come on girl, not with that
bullshit again.
SHARICE
Yeah, that bullshit again. I make
you a lot of fuckin' money, and I
think I deserve your support here!
Money takes a sip of his drink as Sharice looks on with
disgust in her eyes.
MONEY
So, anyways, how's things going?
Did you take care of that
disturbance uptown?
SHARICE
Yeah, it's done.
MONEY
So, he's in line now?
SHARICE
Actually, he's been replaced.
MONEY
Replaced? What do you mean
replaced?
Sharice motions her hand across her neck. Money finally
catches on.
MONEY (CONT'D)
Ah, I see. Well you just proved my
point about a woman being boss
right there.
SHARICE
What are you talking about?
MONEY
Everytime there's a problem for you
to handle, the person always ends
up replaced.
SHARICE
Look, I didn't want it to happen
like that.
MONEY
Oh, I get it. Connie again. You'd
better start keeping a tighter
leash on her, or you'll both end up
replaced, if you know what I mean.
SHARICE
It wasn't Connie, it was me, I had
no choice, the guy was
disrespecting me and shit. If you
were in my shoes....
MONEY
If I was in your shoes, it wouldn't
have come to that. My point is
broads just aren't respected in the
game. You all are only good for one
thing, and, well you know how that
goes.
SHARICE
Fuck you Money, I'm your biggest
earner out here. The rest of these
mopes bring you shit compared to
me. I've taken care of you for
years now, and I just want what's
coming to me.
MONEY
What's coming to you? You should be
happy I don't take your fuckin'
head for this shit. We don't need
all this heat on us right now.
SHARICE
What heat? The police are running
on E right about now. Hell, since
Katrina, you'd be lucky to get one
time on the phone. It'll be
probably days before they even pick
the body up!
MONEY
Let's face it, you're just not
respected enough on the streets to
be a boss. When your only choice is
to replace somebody, you may not be
cut out for this game.
Sharice shakes her head in disagreement while Money now moves
over into the seat next to her. He begins to rub up and down
her leg. Sharice doesn't react.
MONEY (CONT'D)
Now, of course, if you're willing
to give me something that I've been
wanting for a long time, I'd be
willing to have a change of thought
on that issue.
Sharice sits silently as Money's hand makes it up to her
thigh. Sharice finally can't take it anymore, and forcefully
moves his hand from her thigh.
SHARICE
Fuck you Money, I'll get boss my
own way. Besides, be honest, could
you respect somebody if they let
you screw them to move up.
MONEY
If it's you, I would respect the
shit out of them.
SHARICE
Yeah, right. I'm outta here.
Sharice is about to make her way out when she's pulled back
by Money Mike.
MONEY
Hold up a minute. On a serious tip,
I need you to get them niggas
running that dock in line. With the
city rebuilding, the dock security
is next to shit, so we can sneak
just about anything in without any
problems. However, there's a rumor
that some cats from the east coast
are going to take a stab at
controlling our docks.
SHARICE (ROLLING HER EYES)
Anyone in particular?
MONEY
Nope, just keep you eyes open. We
can't afford to lose that shit.
SHARICE
Fine.
Sharice starts to get out of the car, and yet again, she's
pulled back by Money.
MONEY
By the way, for breaking up one of
my games, I'm expecting at least
35.
SHARICE
That's fuckin' outrageous!
MONEY
She has one week, or I'll handle
her myself.
Sharice rolls her eyes and finally makes her way out of the
car.
