More updating will be added soon.  I would like to thank those who helped steer me in the right direction.  My highest regard and appreciation goes first to Kjell Nordvisk, who without his help, much of the earlier information on the ALMSTED(T) lines would have been limited.  He was my first contact after struggling for many years to find some sort of family in both America and Sweden.

Kjell Nordqvist and Anita Killström, at an annual fest in the Bjurtjärn area.
Anita is in traditional costume.

Many thanks to those listed below.

The records in Sweden and to Ellis Island show Erik G. ALMSTEDT and family members.

I have researched or received information up to 20 plus generations on many of these lines, which have been given in entirety to Terry Almsted and Jack Almstad, first cousins of Jerry for their files.  These lines are predominately in Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York, Sweden and Germany and traced in Sweden between 1350-1723 for ALMSTEDT and into the 1300's for WIKLAND.  If you believe you belong to this line, please contact us so we can visit with you.  E-mail Us!

Selma Ottilia Lovisa Lagerlöf

Selma LagerlöfSelma Lagerlöf born 1858, died 1940 was born in Östra Emterwik, Värmland, Sweden. She grew up on the family estate at Mårbacka.  She left in 1881 to attend college in Stockholm and became a teach four years later at the girls' secondary school in Landskrona.

A book intended as a primer for elementary schools became one of the most charming children's book in any language, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, the story of a boy who shrinks and finds adventure on the back of a goose.

In 1909 she received the Nobel Laureate in Literate, the first woman to receive that award. Selma is also honored on the Swedish 20 kronor banknote.
Selma is Jerry's seventh cousin, three times removed and their common ancestor grandfather is Sveno Laurentii.
