Hatcher DNA Project
ATTENTION:
The Hatcher Y-DNA Project results can be found at this site with Nel Hatcher, Administrator.
Our Hatcher family is Dutch from the land of Holland and later moved into central Europe after being invaded by the Vikings of Denmark, where they mixed with our Hatcher line, and therefore our DNA shows we are of Viking descent. After leaving Europe for America, they settled into Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama and while some remained, our family left for new Texas territory and settled into the counties of Hardin, Jefferson, Liberty, Polk and San Jacinto, some moving to the northwest corner of Texas surrounded by Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Whitten DNA Project
The Whitten DNA Project results can be found at this site with Lorraine Hatcher Almsted, Administrator. This project is new and we need all who can to join us to have your DNA tests done so we can get those connections confirmed. The Whitten DNA Project is for all family lines of Whidden/on, Whitten/on, Witten/on or any variant that believes they belong to this group. Go to the Whitten DNA Project site listed above to have DNA tests done, or go to the Hatcher-Whitten DNA page to see DNA Results and Pending Results for Whitten families. There are not that many Whitten lines who have been tested, so this is a new Family Tree DNA site. We need more test results done. Please join us and let's see who we can prove DNA connections to.
Our Whitten family is Scotch-Irish with original roots in Germany and a few mixed with American Indian from 1600's to 1800's. They are found as far as Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, Texas and Oklahoma. The lines are spread from coast to coast in America today, as well as found in foreign countries and proven as kin. This group carries many who were leaders in local and national government, leaders of faith in God and many churches have been started by or along with some of these family members. This is a large group and much research continues on these Whitten and various spellings of the name. Our Whitten includes the strong Lyle and Reid lines of Ireland and the Quaker Cain lines that go back in America to Pennsylvania. Research of these lines have been most interesting and "eye-opening" to some degree, which keeps them "not boring" at all.
The Carter Y-DNA Project results can be found at this site with Vicki Carter Tallent, Administrator.
Results of Family Tree Y-DNA Testing for Whitten families
From FTDNA ~ Haplogroups in green have been confirmed by SNP testing. Haplogroups in red have been predicted by Family Tree DNA based on unambiguous results in the individual's personal page. Please note that for any predicted results we see no reason for ordering a SNP test to confirm the Haplogroup. if a – is in the HAPLO field then we feel that the comparative results are not clear and unambiguous and if the kit holder wants to know their SNP with 100% confidence they may consider ordering a SNP confirmation test.

Haplogroup R1b1 is the most common haplogroup in European populations. It is believed to have expanded throughout Europe as humans re-colonized after the last glacial maximum 10-12 thousand years ago. This lineage is also the haplogroup containing the Atlantic modal haplotype. Kit 38565 Whitten lineages from Europe, Scotland, Ireland to America; then from VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, TN, AR, TX and OK. My own family test I am using as a guide for now until more tests are done. The red letters indicate the differences in markers by only 1 o 2 mutations. I always thought we could prove all Whitten lines belonged by blood, but the test for 22698 disproves that belief. |
