A life-controlling issue is |
|
Anything that masters ( or controls our lives).
“Everything is permissible for me– but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me– but I will not be mastered by anything” 1 Corinthians 6:12 |

Life-controlling issues fall into three categories:
SUBSTANCE~ Drugs, alcohol, food, prescription medications.
BEHAVIOR~ Gambling, pornography, anger etc.
RELATIONSHIP~ Unhealthy relationships, co-dependant

Groups Offered through Lifeline |
|
1) Insight Group~ This small group discusses the upward path to Christian character as Described in 2 Peter 1:3-11. The group covers the definitions of a life– controlling problems, delusion and denial, walls of defenses, leveling, and ministry to one another.
2) Concerned Person’s Group~ This group is specifically targeted for families to those struggling with addictions, and covers enabling, boundaries , and co-dependency, as well as comfort, hope, and letting go and letting God
3) Stepping into Freedom~ A 12– step recovery group, implanting the 12 steps AA, as a faith-based ministry , applying scripture to each of the 12 steps. During this group, participations are asked to keep a step by step diary and goal chart.
4) Restoring Families~ Small group ministry helping family members come to grips with abuse and family violence, and seeing the healing of wounded emotions and reconciliation with boundaries.
5) Optional Groups~ Crossroads: Choosing the path to sexual purity; Understanding depression; handling loss and grief; anger: Our Master or Our Servants: and seeing yourself in God’s Image.

The Five Components of Recovery |

Lifeline ministries are based on the following five components of recovery: |

Decision ~ I have come to a point in my life where I will finally admit that I am sick and tired of being sick and tired! I make the decision to get serious about recovery! See Joshua: 24:15
Positive Peer Choice~ I will surround myself with people who are serious about my life~ Change who will encourage me.See Psalm 1:1
Accountability~ I will hold myself accountable for my actions and decisions based on my life-plan. I will make myself accountable to others who can help me evaluate my progress and help me to be responsible for personal inventory. See Romans: 14:12
Boundaries~ I will learn the word “no” and understand that there are people I must not see and places where I must not go. See Jeremiah 5:22
Consistency~ I understand that it’s not how I start my life-plan that matters, but how consistent I am in the implementation! I realize that recovery and discipleship are for a lifetime. See Matthew 24: 13
