ABOUT US:

Louisiana Ecrevisse is an unincorporated, sole proprietorship company owned and operated by Jay V. Huner, Ph.D. Ecrevisse is the French word for crawfish. The business is approximately 30 years old and has been primarily involved in writing about aquaculture and fisheries management with emphasis on freshwater crawfishes. Consulting services are available on matters involving damage claims to crawfish crops and management of cultivated crawfish and natural crawfish populations. In the year 2000, Dr. Huner began to work in the area of eco-tourism emphasizing birding in agricultural wetland systems and offers field birding services where appropriate.

Dr. Huner has published numerous semi-technical publications. Selected commercial publications include Farm Pond Harvest Magazine, Aquaculture Magazine, Fish Farming International. Seafood International, Small Far Today Magazine, Missouri Farm Magazine, Fishing News International, and National Fishermen Magazine.

Dr. Huner has written books on aquaculture for Hayworth Press, Binghamton, New York and AVI Publications, Westport, Connecticut as well as the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program in Baton Rouge. He has self-published separate compilations of articles about fish farming and crawfish aquaculture from Farm Pond Harvest Magazine, a publication that he has written quarterly articles since 1978. Dr. Huner edited, with the late Dr. Harry K. Dupree, the book entitled "Third Report to the Fish Farmer" which was published by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1984.
