The Lyric Duo has received great acclaim for its concert appearances in the United States and in China. The Lyric Duo is an energetic husband and wife team who began their musical collaboration in 1995 at the University of Southern California. Lyric soprano Eva Peng and pianist Anthony Olson, the Lyric Duo offers unique concert programs that explore a wide variety of songs, arias, chamber music and solo piano works. In addition to their touring, they have had live recordings broadcast on numerous television and radio stations, including KSCI TV, Channel 18, Los Angeles and Nanjing Broadcasting, Jiang-Shu province, China.

In addition to their unique concert programs, they are deeply committed to the education of young audiences and performers. They offer school programs for elementary and middle schools as well as lectures and masterclasses for local colleges, universities and music teachers' organizations.

Lyric Soprano - Eva Peng

Renowned lyric soprano Eva Peng served, for many years, as the resident soprano soloist for the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in her native China. During her tenure with the company, she was able to sing and study under the direction of numerous world-famous conductors including the late Herbert van Karajan. She was the subject of a cover story in China's TV Guide following a nationally televised concert at Guangzhou's Friendship Theatre. She also appeared in a special command performance for former Chinese premier Jiang Zemin in Zhong-Lang-Hai, China's national state house.

In the United States, Ms. Peng has appeared in many recitals and concerts with orchestras. Equally at home on the theatrical stage, she has starred in productions, most recently as "Maria" in The Sound of Music and as "Bastienna" in Mozart's Bastien and Bastienna at the historic Ft. Totten Little Theatre.

Ms. Peng currently teaches voice at Northwest Missouri State University and at North Central Missouri College. She studied at the Shanghai Conservatory, the Wu Han Conservatory, the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Southern California. Her primary teachers have included Natalie Limonick, Bard Suverkrop and Xiao Yan Zhou.

Pianist - Anthony Olson

Pianist Anthony Olson has performed throughout the United States and China, and has even had live recordings broadcast on National Public Radio. Active as both a soloists and a chamber musician, he explores a wide range of solo and chamber works, from music of the early Baroque era to new music written especially for him. He frequently judges piano competitions, teaches masterclasses and presents lectures at professonal conferences. His biography appears in Who's Who in America.

Being an active stage director and conductor as well as a pianist, he has directed and conducted numerous operas including George Gershwin's Blue Monday, Gustav Holst's The Wandering Scholar, Samuel Barber's A Hand of Bridge, Mozart's Bastien and Bastienna and Little Red Ridinghood by Seymour Barab.

A dedicated educator, Anthony Olson is currently Associate Professor of Piano at Northwest Missouri State University. He also teaches opera history online for Adelphi University. In the fall of 2005, Dr. Olson taught at Imperial College in London. In the summer of 2008, he will return to Europe to teach at Teikyo University in Masstricht, Holland. Prior to accepting his current academic appointment, he taught at Oxnard College and served as pianist and vocal coach for the Full Circle Opera project at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.

He studied piano at the University of Southern California, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, and the University of North Dakota. His principle teachers include Daniel Pollack, Greg Allen and Arthur Houle.
