Spring Tulip Demonstration Pattern Instructions

1. Trace the design onto the background fabric. Trim fabric about 1" beyond drawn rectangle.

2. Trace the design units (tulips, leaves) onto the paper side of a lightweight paper backed fusible.

3. Cut out the design units, leaving a slight margin beyond the marked lines.

4. Fuse the design units to the wrong side of desired fabrics; cut out designs on the marked lines.

5. Remove paper backing, position on the marked background fabric, and fuse into place.

6. Layer top, low loft batting, and backing. Pin or baste together.

7. Sew on ¼" double fold black bias tape according to the numbered sequence. Sew with a 4 mm double needle. When trimming bias ends, position scissors at the same angle as the bias strip that will be covering and crossing the cut ends.

8. Trim the stained glass panel along the outer lines.

9. Measure the length of the stained glass panel. Cut two borders 2¾" x the measured length. Stitch to the stained glass panel. (Replace the double needle with a regular single needle.) Measure the width of the panel with attached lengthwise borders. Cut two borders 2¾" x the measured width and attach.

10. Layer the design top, fleece or low loft batting and backing; secure the layers with pins. Quilt in the ditch along the border seams.

11. Bind as desired, or put into a picture frame. Don’t forget to sign and date your work. Enjoy!
