Pyrotechnics, a.k.a. Farmer's Fancy
Intermediate and very confidant beginning quilters
12 hours or 6 hours
This design was featured in Quilter's Newsletter Magazine (#350), Quilting Today (#88) and NQA Quilting Quarterly (#122).
Two day (12 hrs) option:

This is an unusual regional design that surfaced during the West Virginia Documentation Project. It's an exciting and explosive design - a twelve point rosette surrounded by three rings of triangles. Paper foundation techniques are used to construct the triangle rings, faced applique is used to construct the rosette, and the resulting 21" circle is sewn into a 24" background square. Instruction for a triangle border option is presented. This project can be done in scraps of coordinated fabrics.
One day (6 hrs) option:

Learn the very basics of this design by sewing only one ring of triangles. The 14" circle is sewn into an 18" background square. Pattern and some instruction for the two ring and three ring versions is provided. The project can be done in scraps or coordinated fabrics.
