| This block was inspired by a quilt
documented during the West Virginia Heritage Quilt
Search. The quilt resides at the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace
in Hillsboro, WV. It is unusual because it has 14 spokes;
most designs of this type have 12 or 16 spokes. Although
it resembles Dresden Plate, it is constructed almost
entirely by piecing. Strip piecing and freezer paper
templates aid in its constrction. The class project is an
18" pieced block, suitable for a wall hanging, a
pillow, or the start of a large quilt. Prerequisite -
good rotary cuttin and machine piecing skills. |
